3 Helpful Tools for Getting Back on Track

Let's face it, we all fall off the horse sometimes. We can be riding along just fine and suddenly-BOOM, life happens and we find ourselves thrown off. 

We can get weighed down by life occurrences, stress and overwhelm. We are human after all and we are never going to be totally immune to negativity no matter how spiritual we think we are. 

Unfortunately, when we are down, it can sometimes feel like quicksand pulling us further and further down the more we struggle to stay afloat. 

The ego mind starts chatting away to us giving us thoughts like, "See, life is just too hard." Or "Why doesn't anything ever work out for me?"

Having gone through this cycle many a time in my own life, I have become very familiar with this feeling. I have learned to recognize the cycle for what it is, knowing that I will once again circle out of it.

I have come up with 3 helpful tools that have greatly assisted me on my journey and I would love to share them with you! 

I am a firm believer in taking one small step at a time. In today's busy world anything more than that can feel like way too much.

So, start with one small step per week and then begin to add in the rest!

 

Step One- GET MOVING

What is your favorite form of exercise? Do you like to take walks? Practice yoga? Maybe even dance to your favorite music while cooking dinner? What ever it is that you like to do , DO THAT!!

Start with once per week and make it a date with yourself. Add it to your calendar and set yourself a reminder. Slowly start to build up to 2 or 3 days per week.
 

Step Two- GET HEALTHY

Now, I'm not talking about going on a diet or anything too crazy. One small step for me is making a smoothie or juice a couple of times a week. 

If you're anything like me, when I'm in a slump, my healthy eating habits fall to the wayside. Then the thought of shopping and making healthy foods seems like too much.

So, do your one small step, health-wise. Whatever it is that makes you feel a little more energetic and vibrant. 
 

Step Three- GET SILENT

When we are in slump mode, our minds are filled with negative thoughts. Our negative self-talk has taken over resulting in a low and slow vibe. 

Carve away some self-care time for YOU and ONLY YOU. No excuses here, we are all busy and we all have the same hours in a day. 

Getting silent helps to lift away the cloudiness of the mind, allowing truth to emerge once again. 

Sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset, journal any thoughts you may have, or sit in meditation before retiring at night. 

Be alone, savor it, and don't forget your journal!!! Journaling helps to focus your thoughts and go deeper. You'll be glad you did.
